The official release date for Attack on Titan season 4 has just been confirmed for Japan's NHK, but Crunchyroll remains vague.

When it comes to anime, there are very few shows that come close to the level of popularity and notoriety like Attack on Titan.

After the crazy season 3 finale, fans have been patiently waiting for news on when the fourth and final installment of the hit anime would premiere.

Here's everything we know so far about when Attack on Titan season 4 will be released and what we can expect from the final chapter.

ATTACK ON TITAN SEASON 4: RELEASE DATE

Attack on Titan season 4 will premiere on December 7 on NHK in Japan and 'later this year' on Crunchyroll.

Many of us expected Attack on Titan season 4 to premiere in October, but on August 6, Animate Times removed the final season from its fall season schedule, indicating that it will most likely premiere on early 2021.

It has now been revealed that the fourth and final season of Attack on Titan will premiere on December 7 in Japan and 'later this year' on Crunchyroll.

In preparation for season 4, an original Attack on Titan film recapping seasons 1-3 called 'Chronicle' will premiere on November 18.

There have also been unconfirmed reports that it will be a 10- and 12-episode two-channel split season, similar to how season 3 was released. Therefore, it may be the case that the first part will air between December 2020. and January 2021, and the last part later in 2021.

UPDATE: Funimation announced today, September 24, that the fourth season of Attack on Titan will also premiere on the streaming platform on December 7.
